Why can’t I import an image URL?
Only public HTTP(S) image URLs are supported. Your browser requests the image directly without cookies; the source sees the request. The source must allow cross-origin access, and the image must meet size and format limits. If CORS blocks it, download the image and upload it instead. We do not bypass restrictions with a server proxy.
Step-by-step guide
Image URL import
Choose URL, or paste one public image URL outside an input field, to open a confirmation dialog. The source is requested only after you confirm import; Cancel or Esc creates no image task. Do not use private, signed or login-required links.
Image URL importCheck the link, then import
Select Import to let your browser read the image directly from its source, then use the existing on-device workflow. The source must return a JPG, PNG or WebP image and allow cross-origin access.
Cancel when you need to
Cancel the dialog or press Esc to keep existing images and tasks. Cancelling after import affects that image item only; pending work may need to finish before retrying. An accepted new URL adds an image item to the queue instead of replacing an earlier image or request.
Limits and troubleshooting
- Only HTTP or HTTPS links with public domain names are supported. Links with a username or password, IP addresses, local network addresses and other protocols are not supported.
- Redirects are not followed. Use a URL that returns the image directly. Web pages, unsupported file types, images over 20 MB and downloads taking over 20 seconds produce an error.
- If the source blocks cross-origin reads, download the image from that website, then choose the file with the upload button. This site does not use a server proxy or bypass source restrictions.
